
Soil Health School: Dig into the Fundamentals of Soil Health

We’re hosting our first Soil Health School! Join the Kansas Soil Health Alliance for two days of hands-on soil health education and networking for beginners. This school is aimed at producers who are 1-5 years into a soil health management system, and will offer practical tools and support to help guide the next steps for your farm and/or livestock operation.
Registration fee covers meals, snacks, and a binder of informational materials. Lodging is not included with registration. A block of rooms has been reserved at Altenhofen Inn in Seneca. Call 785-336-3663 and ask for the Kansas Soil Health block.
Day 1 includes: Soils of Kansas with Dave Kohake; Soil Health Principles & Background of BS Farms with Bill Buessing; Soil Biology with Candy Thomas and Dave Kohake; farmer panel discussing the Systems Approach to Farming with Bill Buessing, Caleb Yoder, Michael Thompson & Josh Lloyd; Livestock Integration with Doug Spencer and Bill Buessing; followed by an in-field grazing tour with Bill Buessing, Doug Spencer & Ryan O’Neill; roundtable discussions after dinner
Day 2 includes: Soil Core Demos with Dave Kohake; Soil and Plant Testing with Dave Kohake and Candy Thomas; an Economics Panel with Bill Buessing, Brice Custer and Dennis Anderson; Woody Encroachment with Doug Spencer; Rainfall Simulator with Candy Thomas; an in-field follow-up from grazing on Day 1 with Bill Buessing, Doug Spencer and Ryan O’Neill; in-field demos with Candy Thomas, Bill Buessing, Brice Custer and Michael Thompson; Setting Equipment for No-Till Success with Paul Jasa, Bill Buessing and Ryan O’Neill
