Grow Native! Webinar: Transforming Stormwater Basins into Native Plant Habitats (VIRTUAL)
October 7 @ 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm
Join Bekah Davis, Project Manager at the James River Basin Partnership (JRBP) in southwestern Missouri, as she shares how JRBP is working with businesses, municipalities, and individual landowners to convert traditional turfgrass detention basins into thriving native plant landscapes.
Bekah will highlight ongoing stormwater basin retrofit projects and explain how native plantings help protect water quality by slowing stormwater flow, allowing sediment and pollutants to settle out, and absorbing runoff through deep-rooted vegetation. She will also discuss the ecological and community benefits of these projects, share real-world examples from across the James River watershed, and explore how partnerships are making native plant stormwater solutions more accessible.
This free webinar, to be held via Zoom, will include a presentation and a live question-and-answer session. The webinar will be recorded, and a link to the recording will be sent to all registrants and posted to the MPF YouTube channel.
