SUMMARY:Switzer/KSU Agriculture Camp for Youth
DESCRIPTION:This hands-on experience introduces youth to agriculture\, leadership\, and cultural heritage while exploring Kansas State University’s College of Agriculture and the historic community of Nicodemus.  \n\n\n\nThe Switzer/KSU Agriculture Camp for Youth is a week-long program designed to introduce young people to agriculture\, leadership\, and the history of farming. During the camp\, students visit Kansas State University’s College of Agriculture\, where they participate in hands-on activities and learn about different agricultural fields and career pathways. \n\n\n\nCampers also connect with MANRRS students (Minorities in Agriculture\, Natural Resources and Related Sciences) who share their experiences in college and agriculture-related careers. The program includes a visit to Nicodemus\, Kansas\, where students learn about the historic Black farming community while participating in outdoor activities such as horseback riding\, fishing\, and conservation learning. \n\n\n\nThe camp combines agricultural education with leadership development and cultural history\, giving youth a better understanding of the role agriculture plays in communities and future career opportunities. The program is supported by partners including Cargill\, USDA-NRCS\, and community organizations.
