Prairie Soil Health Management Walk
June 5 @ 9:30 am – 2:00 pm
Exploring the Prairie:
On the morning of June 5, 2025, nature enthusiasts and curious minds alike will gather at Phillips Cabin for a special guided Prairie Walk. Beginning at 9:30 AM, participants will embark on an immersive journey through the breathtaking prairie landscape, uncovering the rich diversity of wildflowers, native plants, and Kansas birds.
The prairie is more than just open fields—it’s a thriving ecosystem, home to an incredible variety of plant and animal life. As we navigate the trails, experts will help identify key plant species, discussing their ecological importance and traditional uses. Bird watchers will have the opportunity to spot local species and gain insights into their behaviors and habitats.
Beyond the beauty, conservation is an essential part of the tour. The walk will include a discussion on noxious weed control, helping participants understand how invasive species impact native ecosystems and what steps can be taken to preserve the integrity of the land.
Following the walk, guests will enjoy a provided lunch, offering a chance to reflect on the experience, connect with fellow nature lovers, and continue conversations about conservation and local wildlife.
Whether you’re an avid outdoor adventurer or simply looking to deepen your appreciation for nature, this Prairie Walk promises to be a meaningful and educational event.
